About the Foyle Multicultural Forum

Benefits that Make a Difference

“Just What Are The Benefits?”

The Forum members have considered and a list conducted to show the benefits of a forum to serve the needs of local minority ethnic groups:
  • Member individuals & groups are brought together, creating a collective, stronger voice
  • Provides the ability to discuss relevant issues affecting the local minority ethnic community
  • There is an opportunity to network & improve communication between groups
  • A way to reduce feelings of isolation experienced by some groups
  • To reduce fragmentation within the local minority ethnic sector
  • Allows for a co-ordinated approach to activities, events & funding
  • Provides an opportunity to influence policy
  • An environment to share ideas, experience & good practice
  • A forum will act as a support mechanism for minority ethnic community groups in their growth and in developing their ability to offer services
  • The existence of a forum encourages partnerships: e.g. with local authorities, health agencies & the community and voluntary sector to aid the development of services for the minority ethnic sector
